“Since we find ourselves fashioned into these excellently formed and marvelously functioning parts in Christ's Body let's just go ahead and BE what we were made to BE, without enviously or pridefully comparing ourselves with each other.”
Romans 12:5-6 The Message
A recent statistic states that 1 in 4 millennials believe that they will be famous by the age of 25. It has been clearer to me in recent years that we as a culture are consumed with comparison. Comparing our lives to the rich and famous, talented and successful and coming up insecure, dissatisfied and disillusioned. Did you know the Bible is clear that God fashioned and formed you for a specific God ordained, heavenly breathed purpose? The only way to find your success and fulfillment is to be yourself. We have everything we need to live a life that pleases God. It was all given to us by His own power (2 Peter 1:3 CEV).
You were perfectly created by God to function in His kingdom and you have all you need in talents, gifts and abilities to fulfill your specific assignment. These gifts are not to puff us up, but rather, things He has entrusted us to be faithful with. Don’t abort God's plan for YOUR life by trying to be someone He did not create you to be. “We won't be distracted by Comparison, if we're captivated with PURPOSE” -Bob Goff. As it says in Romans, let's just go ahead and BE what we were made to BE! You are unique, equally loved by God as anyone else. But created for something very specific and God appointed. Make no mistake, you are an ORIGINAL!
Pray now for our youth and young adults (millennials) to not be tempted to compare their lives to others but rather live their purpose.
Say a prayer of thanks to God for who you are, where you are, and what you are doing. Something will never be right in your relationship to the Lord until you can thank Him for who He made you to be.
