“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them … teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28: 19-20 (NLT)
HAVE YOU EVER given someone a surprise gift? You didn’t have to do it, but you actually wanted to give it, even if it cost you. Why? Because you anticipate the look on their face as they get surprised, open the gift, and (hopefully) are really blessed by it. What the gift does for them makes the sacrifice worthwhile.
WHEN WE READ Jesus’ commission to us with our “me-glasses” on it can feel like something we “have to” do. BUT THINK ABOUT THE RECIPIENT … we’re about to bring them a free gift. Think about the look in someone’s eyes and the joy in their heart when they realize that there is hope, that someone loves them just as they are, and that they can be FREE forever!
So we look at the INVITATION again, not as an obligation, but as an opportunity for us to be a part of giving someone the best surprise gift of all … just like someone else did with you.
Pray for people you know who need to know about Jesus
1 Timothy 2:1
Ask God to give you boldness and opportunity to share this free gift with others
