"And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved."
In the book of Acts we read about many powerful, life altering events that happened in the early church through the disciples and the apostles. Healing, unusual miracles, many wonders and signs, revivals of thousands being saved and filled with the Holy Spirit in ONE day! And so much more. They literally had a reputation of turning the world upside down! Why? I believe that Acts 2 gives us a brief summary of the "why." They continued steadfastly in doctrine (the word), prayers and praising God, as well as gathering together to fellowship. They were people of worship, the word and prayer! Not just once a week but “steadfastly” which means this was their lifestyle: who they were and what they lived.
Many of our hearts long for that kind of manifestation to take place today. We have the same Holy Spirit that the disciples did in the book of Acts. No doubt, most of us have experienced the faithfulness of God and His power in our lives on some level. However, I believe God wants to reveal Himself in mightier ways than we have seen—in supernatural ways that cannot be explained except that it must be God! I believe this the life that is supposed to be the norm for us as believers and His disciples. It sounds so simple, but it's easier said than done (or more people would be doing it). It takes discipline and intentionality—but if they did it, we can too! We have a loving God who gave us the Holy Spirit to help us do it. Can you imagine your life lived like this?
Can you imagine us as a church all living a life like this? Wow! Powerful!
Purpose in your heart to be steadfast in worshipping your God from the heart always, getting into the word daily and connecting with Him in prayer always
Believe that the same things we see in the Bible are for us today and expect them to come to pass
