"The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore."
When we dive into the word of God, there are numerous examples of God’s protection. Noah and his family were directed to build an ark and were saved from the worldwide flood. Daniel was thrown into a den of hungry lions, yet the Lord shut the lions' jaws and Daniel’s life was preserved. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego were cast into the fiery furnace for not obeying the king’s decree, but they were not burned. David stood before Goliath with just a sling and stones and he defeated the giant. Joseph was warned in a dream and took Mary and the baby Jesus to Egypt because Herod was going to search for the Child to kill Him.
According to the thesaurus, the words preserve, protect and keep are interchangeable. The Lord is your keeper (preserver, protector) … the Lord is at your right hand (He is near you, he is reachable.) … the Lord shall preserve (protect, keep) you from all evil. He shall preserve (protect, keep) your soul. The Lord shall preserve (protect, keep) your going out and your coming in.
In this unstable and changing world, it is wonderful to know that our God does not slumber nor sleep; He is our keeper and protector. Are you facing giants? Do you feel like you are in the fiery furnace or does it seem like all is going to collapse around you? Call upon the name of the Lord. Psalm 107:13 says,“Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses.” I would say the above “heroes” of the faith probably felt like they were facing some “trouble.” However, the mighty hand of God protected and delivered them.
Pray for the souls of unsaved friends and family members.
Pray for protection over our family members’ lives—both physically and spiritually.
